Does anyone have any experience with a performance chip for the V-10? Most of my driving is on the back roads and I pull an 8600 lb. boat. I'm looking for more low end power and torque. Do I need to run high octane gas? Can I get any additional performance out of 87 or 89 octane without knock or other problems? Any gas mileage differences?

I've had a Superchip (brand name)on my '99 V10 SuperDuty for about 27,000 miles, and have been very pleased with it. It does require that you use gasoline with a 90+ octane rating, but the performance went way up, and the gas mileage crept up just a little, as well.
Don't buy one to save money, 'cause you won't. The benefit is in performance.
