I have forgotten the code but I know it's for a gross leak in the EVAP system some where. What is the most common failure or failing component of the EVAP system that would cause a gross leak? I can smell fuel but I can not find nor see a leak of any kind. I smell the gas on the drivers side back by the tank.
you probally wont see a leak. the system works on vapor recovery via vacumm line from the tank to the charcoal canistor. most have a soleniod pump and more vacumm line connected to the intake for burn off. find your canistor probally behind a front fender along the frame.
the code could be a failure of the soleniod and it's not sucking vapor, or a bad canistor that is saturated with gas, or leaky lines causing no vacumm. follow the hard plastic line from the canister back to the tank, you may have to drop the tank because the line is going to disappear over the top of it. it will be hard line with rubber ends that will dry rot at cause vacumm leaks, also check for cracked hoses at the soleniod, canistor and intake any vacumm leaks and the system fails. most of the these hoses are dealer parts, the system is important, no so much emissions but if you park in a garage or closed in area the fuel vapor can collect and ignite.
that could be it, you didn't post year info and they change the systems over the years. just do some tracing around. hard fuel lines go to the motor, etc. if those are the only lines then that is the canistor trace those lines out to the front to see where they end up etc. check all connections, pugs etc.
