E4OD replacement

Went to 2 different transmission shops, and they both came up with the same diagnostics for my transmission. No code showing but defendant slippage while shifting between 2 & 3 under load. Results are when it shifts (underload) it feels like the whole truck is going to come apart! Really jars your head. Anyway. New transmission time I've been told? I pull a 30 foot 5th wheel and decided to have a "built" transmission installed for heavy towing?
It's been recommended to install a ATS tork converter? Splendy little thing. Infact the tork converter and tranny are going to run about $4500.00. In using the ATS, this will give me a 3 yr 150,000 warranty both converter and tranmission. My 1996 PSD has only 94000 original miles. I really like the truck, can't beat the power and mileage. Other than tires, this is the first dime I've put in her.
Has anybody used this ATS tork converter? Are they as good as they appear? Or would recommend another make?

Welcome to FTE. Being a manual tranny guy I can't offer too much advice, but it does seem to be a case of "you get what you pay for" when it comes to HD tranny rebuilds.

Never tried the ATS, I've heard alot about BTS. Either way you go make sure you up your line size to 3/8 and have a good cooler. I'm on my 3rd...yep 3rd Ford reman (1st one was junk 500mi, 2nd 19k but heat and TC troubles took it out) I had a 24,500 gvw cooler on the truck but they claim it wasn't big enuf, even with the two factory ones.....

ATS trannies are the ****! BTS is the **** as well so really its just a whole lot of **** in general. lol, BTS are ford guru's, they're who Im gonna go through next time I have tranny troubles, plus they're not as exspensive as ATS. Good luck

ATS and BTS are all great trannies. The warrantee they will give is great and the price is right for a great tranny. I would go for it if you have the cash.
