Need to know the Plenum tork ft lbs to install my updated plenums on my E99. I know I can just tighten snug but always like to tork things as much as possible. Your help is appreciated. And is there 12 inch lbs to every
ft lbs? Thanks, Chet
I found the intake manifold cover bolts torque to 18 ft/lbs. I thing this the plenum. Yes, 12 in/lbs = one ft/lbs.
Thanks Rick. I used my inch lbs tork wrench to break them loose. They all came out between 140 & 150 inch lbs, so 18 ft lbs mit be a little high. That would be more like 216 inch lbs. But your help is appreciated, I looked and couldn't fine it and I know I had it once. I've been putting this off because of the amount of work involved and my health but I'll get it done. I'm doing a little each day hopefully by Wednesday it should be running if I can keep at it. God bless, Chet
For your future reference, NEVER use your torque wrench to break bolts loose.
If you want to "see" the approximate torque, tighten them using a click type wrench and see where it clicks. Use increasing values to find the clicking point and it will tell you the torque value.
The purpose of indicating torque values in inch-lbs is to get a more precise torque. Some torque wrenches don't have ft-lbs values less than 20 ft-lbs. If the value is callling for a very precise torque, get an inch-lb wrench and torque it correctly.
