I bought a 302 from someone a while back. Its like a 69-74ish motor. Came with a 2 barrel motorcraft carb. My six's stock 1bbl needs rebuilding and after messing with it a bit I'm not a big fan of the 1bbl. Do they make adapters to go up to the 2bbl motorcraft? I've seen ones to go to a holley 2bbl. The motorcraft carb is in excellent shape, looks new pretty much.
The 2bbl adapter for a 2300 Holley should also work with a Motorcraft, I know the base plates are pretty much the same. I ran a Holley 2bbl on my six with an adapter, it made quite a difference
Sweet info. Now I just have to ID my carb. It looks almost identical to all the pictures of the 2100s I seen. Just has one piece on top that is attatched to the choke that isnt there on the pictures I've seen. And it doesnt have a part number anywhere on it that I can find. But I've read that I need to know exactly what it is to get a rebuild kit for it since they all vary a bit. I think the old motorcraft 2bbl I have will have a lot more things to tune it with. The old carter piece of crap seems to be why mine is gutless and drinks gas.
This sounds like a good Mod. are there any problems with the tranny kickdown or throttle linkage? I recently put a crane cam in that realy did wonders for mid range performance. I went with it knowing I would eventually upgrade to a 2 barrel, however, I hadnt seen much on the linkage problems with the move over to the 2 barrel. Any input would be great.

I bought my adapter from Cliffords, it's machined out of a solid block of aluminum... sweet piece but it was a bit pricey. I have seen them cheaper, if memory serves me correctly I found one cheaper (after buying mine of course ) on the advance auto parts web site. You will have to drill the holes to make it fit your intake manifold. I ran the adapter for a while and then gave in and bought the Offy DP intake. The adapter did work well for me but the Offy really woke up my 300, especially after I bolted on the Hedman header to go with it!
Sounds sweet, after putting the cam I am just itching to get it more gas, I havnt priced a new manifold yet. I know I can get the carb. How did you do the linkage for the tranny and the throttle cable? did it all match up or was there some modifying there too? Ive got excellent throttle response from 60 MPH and up with the cam, just step on the go fast pedal and off she goes. Does the same with a boat hooked up. I am concerned about getting to deep into modifying linkages and stuff. Well we will see what turns up, thanks

My truck has a manual transmission, so the kickdown linkage was not an issue for me. As far as the accelerator cable I fabbed up a bracket that bolts to the intake. It was actually really easy, it did require some welding however. As for kick down linkage, you might be able to find an adapter kit for the Ford kickdown for a Holley. The Motorcraft and Holley 2300s do share some similarities, I would think you could just pick up a kit for a Holley and make it work. Stuff like this is kind of fun, it gives you and opportunity to get creative.
