Im looking at purchasing a 1999 F250 7.3 lariat short bed with 163k. the boost is at 15lbs, is this ok , and wat else should i look for? Please help if possible.
Yeah well I figured as much but are you trying a run up a hill/grade under full throttle or what? Load it down and try it. 15 isn't getting it done. Check the gauge fittings, CAC tube clamps/boots and the wastegate. It should get to about mid 20s or something is wrong.
mid 20's with a stock tune? I've always thought that mid/upper teens with a stock tune even with open exhuast and better air intake was normal. you can't build more boost than that without more fuel?
I know my truck with stock tune and cut off muffler with kwik filter will only see about 18psi WOT pulling my boat up a hill.

Well, the stock defuel parameter in the PCM is 25PSI. I would think he should be able to get into the 20s when loading it down and getting on it. I have hit 30 with mine with a fooler. Not much benefit there with the stock turbo but there you have it. Come to think of it, I don't even recall my max boost before my chip. Maybe it was lower.
I wasn't saying this to dissagree with you. But i am new to my truck and am still looking around for factory boost #'s with a stock tune to make sure i have no leak issue's.
Well, if I weren't going out of town tommorow errr today, I could pull my chip and refresh my memory but not going to happen. I honestly don't recall for sure but thought mine was higher with stock everything and the Cannon.

Those boost numbers are normal a stock PSD. 1999 is a great choice for a Power stroke as they have forged rods and do not have the transmission Diode problems. I would get a late 99 not a early one.
Who ever said mid 20s with stock programming is full of it. No offense I have 2 Power Stroke Diesels and none of them could get mid 20s on stock tuning now put a chip on their then yes you can get into mid 20s easy
