Alright guys, I've got problems. Originally upon purchasing this vehicle, I believed this vehicle was equiped with the 4.10 rear end. Upon further inspection, I discovered that I actually have the 3.55. Now, here's the issue: at 70 mph I cruise at 2400 rpm, occasionally (rarely) the vehicle will go in to either lock up or fourth gear and I will do the proper 2000 rpm at 70 mph.
Now what I have done is replace the ect sensor since it was sluggish. Next I plan to replace the vss. My question to you is what could possibly cause the transmission not to shift into fourth gear? I believe a solenoid could be bad, but the truck does occassionally shift into fourth gear, but rarely. Is there anything else I should look at? Does anyone know where a good place to buy an e4od is? Any help is appreciated.
OD does work by the way, just no fourth gear. With OD on, I do 2400 RPM, with it off I do 2800-2900 rpm at 70mph.

What you're seeing is the TC not locking up. It has nothing to do with shifting. Overdrive *is* fourth gear, so that last statement doesn't make a lot of sense.
First thing I'd try is a flush and filter change. If that doesn't do it, then you might replace the solenoids.
Well, she went all day yesterday she went just fine all day long. I'm not sure why either, I was towing 1k lbs lol...I'm gonna get the codes scanned today. Thanks for the input. I'm wondering if I might have a lazy tach, it seems to jump a lot. Something I should look into. The reason this has been so frustrating is that the TC acts as though it's locked up when it's at the 2400rpm too.
