Hi I just bought this truck and was told its all origional.
I got these numbers off the engine:

There is a plate on the bottom left of the engine that says

I know its a V-8 but not sure if its a 272

If it's original replacement it should be 292 CID, Y Block Type, V8 engine.

They look like a 239, 255, 272, and 312 Y Block also. But they were only making 292s by 1960, so more likely than not it is a rebuilt 292 CID Y Block V8 engine.

Mercury still offered a 312 in the Monterey series in 1960. After 1960, no more 312's.
