rear end slop
My 2000 F250 7.3 6 speed has a lot of "slop" in the rearend. It alsways had this since i owned it but got much more anoying with my new clutch. When i grab the driveshaft and turn rotate it back and forth at the differential, it moves much further than my friends 2002 (same truck). The difference is mine has 235k miles and his has 60k. I had the cover off and the oil was decent looking, though i still changed it and there was no metal in it. Is this just normal wear from towing with this many miles? next thing, how do i fix it? Can it just be shimmed? are there any step by step instructions for this?

If it's not getting really hot or making any extreme noises, I would say you're OK. Just normal slop from all those miles. What is annoying you? Clunk?
If you have a 2 piece drive shaft the slip-splines between the 2 may be dry and can cause a clunk in the drive line.
