?? Positive - Negative Ground Coils ??
The Coils have three terminals -- besides the Hi Voltage.
They are marked; ( + ) , ( - ) , and ( DIST ) !
I get 0.25 ohms between the + and - terminals.
I get 16.20 Kohms Between High Voltage and ( + ) or ( - ) .
These sound okay.
BUT THE TERMINAL MARKED ( DIST ) seems to measure open to everything !!!!!!!
What may the " DIST " TERMINAL before ????????? Anyone KNOW ???
I may cut one open ---------- good ole Auction fines !!!!!!
I answered one question ---------- I cut open one of my NEW - auction coils ------- and the terminal marked " DIST " is going no where ----- which my infinite resistance reading said.......
Now the terminal marked " + " is the common one between the low voltage primary winding and the auto transformer - Hi Voltage secondary ---------------------------------------
Sooooooooooooo in wiring up for ignition I could either use points to switch the ground point either at the + or - terminal -- thereby getting the proper NEGATIVE High Voltage Pulse to the Plugs ------------Hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
which is the best way ????????????
I've seen other discussions on this topic ----but ??????????????
Thanks ??? John gettin ready for 'back tp fifties'
I seem to remember burning up my original coil on my 53 f100(when it was original 6v pos ground) and I took a regular coil and hooked the points to the + and the hot wire from the key to the negative, and it worked fine.
