Is a 390 a 390???

I'm shopping for some sort of "cast" valve covers for my truck's 390 engine. So far, the only thing I have found is "Cobra 360/390" in a cast aluminum, through Either Jeg's or Summit racing.....will these fit properly? Wasn't sure if there were any differences in engine stuff in the cars vs. the trucks....

They will fit. I think that the only time you have to watch out is when you use ajustable rokers, the Cobra engines use the higher valve covers, they work good on your truck engine.

I have two sets of original Ford Cobra valve covers for a 390, my Mustang has Ford-type 427 adjustable rockers and a 427 solid cam. Adjustable rockers will fit under the Cobra valve covers.

FPP roller tip adjustable rockers fit under OEM tin valve covers. Plain old ribbed CalCustom aluminum covers look "KOOL" and have the 60's look unless your a "I got to have" person with the latest expensive bling.
Goes 35 mph faster in the parking lot with chrome.

thanks for the replies.....my main interest is a valve cover that will not deform and allow oil to seep by the gaskets....the regualr Ford ones I have now are so flimsy that just torquing down the valve cover bolts causes them to warp and let oil pass.

Check your clearance between the VC and brake booster if you have power brakes as some VC's are tall.
A Fe VC will fit any sized FE motor unless you need extra clearance due to aftermarket rockers.
