I saw an 18 wheeler on the highway running these Michelin X One's. These things are double wide, to replace dual tires with one, they look really cool. I was wondering if anyone had fit these to a Ford Dually. I would love to see a pic and get some details on the conversion. I think it would look awesome. show your pics!!!.
On a different note, when I posted this thread it came up with an ad for Chevy in my post's window. does anyone else see this? and how the hell does that happen on a site for Ford Truck Enthusiasts?
The tires I am talking about are double wide to take the place of dual wheels, one double wide tire instead of two regular tires per side (on the rear).
I've seen the tires you're talking about on some trucks when I worked a job as a security guard. I talked to the driver about them and he said they were for weight savings compared to a regular dual wheel setup. The weight reduction was intended to help in fuel mileage.
I can't fully recall all the specs but I seem to remember that they were 445/something/22.5, I just can't recall the aspect ratio although it may have been something like a 65. I thought they would look good on an SUV or full size pickup.
I work at a Michelin plant that makes the X-one. These tires have not been certified in Canada and some States for use on trucks yet. I don't think there are adapter kits for anything smaller than a tractor trailer setup. Also at the present time Michelin dealers have the only equipment capable of servicing this tire/wheel setup.
Hey Whit350, those tires are referred to as super singles and the industry made big waves when they came out years ago but you don't see them on a lot of rigs. I think the cost of them has a lot to do with it.
