Are you dead set on michelins? Take it for what it's worth, but I recommend nitto dura grapplers. Longest lasting tires I ran on my trucks. Good traction on the ice too
Try Wal-Mart, if its not in stock your tires can be shipped to your store at no extra charge (you can check on line at wally world). I try to use WM because of life time rotation and balancing and road hazard guarantee. My wife and I travel a lot and if I have tire problems WM has always been good (and close) for service as needed. The closest to the size that you wanted that I saw listed was a LTX M/ST LT245/70R17 (for $219). I hope this helps...
It's the aged on a shelf issue that is the problem, not availability. I confess that when I bought some LTX MS/2's I didn't bother to check. I would just ask the distributor to call the wholesaler and ask about it. Other than driving around checking tire codes, I don't know what else to do. They are definitely manufactured in batches.
That particular tire may not have many newly cast tires. Its an odd size and the reason all the tires your finding and 2-4 years old are because they didn't sell as quickly as Michelin had hoped and there aren't any new tires being cast. And as far as the tires being 2-4 years old that's not an issue unless yo won't put 60-70k on them in the next 6-8 years if the tires last on the truck what their supposed to. If your only planning to put 20k on then it doesn't matter because you will have to replace the tires with age anyway
