is there any concerns with a '03-'05

My wife's F150 got t boned two weeks ago and now we need a replacement vehicle.(she wants an Explorer I was wondering is there anything to be worried about with the newer Explorers. And also is there that much difference in milege between the 4.0l and the 4.6l??? any good inputs would be great.

there really won't be all that much mileage difference between the 4.0 and 4.6. you'll definitely like the hp difference if you choose the 4.6

I have an 05 XLT with the 4.6 V8.

Mileage 14-15/18-19
Suburban/Highway

I have had no issues with mine thus far (26,000 on the ODO)

I have had opportunity to drive both an '05 V6 AND V8.

The V8 is by far the better choice IMHO. MUCH better a$$ on the highway, much smoother roughly the same mpg.

In my opinion, the V8 is the way to go.....

(plus a K&N and a Flowmaster really makes this thing snort a little more)

Dude, do yourself a favor and get another F150.
If you want a 04 Explorer I sell you mine for $13,995 with a 3 year, 30,000 mile warranty. Its got 43k miles with a bad trans and a bad rear end and a CD that doesn't work.

Forget about an 02 and later Explorer, they're junk with a capital J.
Last good Explorer was the 01.

Mileage is in the toliet, 18 mpg average.

Yeah my 03 Explorer is a real POS. I've had to change the oil in it and the transmission fluid and some other ridiculous stuff. No problems with 77,000 on it.

i have a 2002 EXP with 4.0L motor. Think its a decent little SUV. Has 90,000 miles. i have put one front hub and one rear hub so far. on eng or trans troubles, changed the trans oil and filter at 40,000. keep it full and keep it clean and no problems.

Maybe I am just lucky, but our 02 has 80000+ miles now and has never needed anything except fluid and filter changes. This is the third explorer we have had since 93, and they have all been excellent.
