Hello all, im trying to install inner fenders on my 1966 f100 with the front clip on the truck. is this possible?. if not how do i unbolt the outer fenders from the cab. please assist. thx Chris
Chris it is fairly impossible to do with the clip intact.
The fenders are held to the cowl with two 5/16th bolts
The inner aprons are held to the cowl on a 65 66 low type cab with three studs.
the five need to be removed on each side to fully remove the clip from the cowl.
The fender bolts are located one at the bottom of the fender placed mid point, And the second is located through the interior of the truck. just above the lower hinge pocket there will be an opening to access this bolt. Some trucks will have a small stamped steel access panel, but most do not.
The three apron studs are located directly below the hood hinges. Some 65 and 66s will also have a lower bolt further down and a rubber strap. Again some do and some dont.
The front core support has to large bolts accessable by a cavity alongside the radiator on each side. You will also need to remove the clip for the emergency brake cable located on the drivers side apron.
Take it off, you will break bolts and j clips. replacments are as close as your local lowes hardware section.
The truck at this time has no inner fenders attached. Its radiator support is disconnected from the frame and the whole front clip sways side to side but is still attached at the outer fenders to the cab. I found a bolt on the very bottom of the fenders from underneath the truck below the door, and removed them on both sides, but i cant seem to find the access panel by the door hinge to locate the other bolts. now im still confused in Cleveland. Chris
First and foremost, welcome to FTE. If understand correctly, inside the cab on the kick panels just before each of the vent doors there is an access plate. If you remove the plates you can remove the bolts securing the fender to the cab. Word of caution, if using socket and extention, make sure well secured to each, it can be quite time consuming fishing the socket from door jamb.
