That has a nice mellow powerful sound to it, but not ridiculously loud. Mine sounds much the same but maybe a little louder. Gotta love the sound of a V8 with a good exhaust system!
From everything I have heard and from personal experience a good free flowing single 3 inch works just as well as true duals does. I know that my truck runs just as good or better than my friends with true duals. He has the exact same setup other than that. Some people will argue that a single 3 inch allows for better low end torque. I'm not sure which is true, but I'm going to leave mine how it is now. Its single 3 inch to 2.5 duals with 3.5 tips with a single in dual out Flowmaster super 40.
I removed my second CAT and installed a single 3" exhaust. I used a Nelson diesel muffler, 6" round, 21" long body....Like a massive Thrush muffler....Louder than I thought it would be but I have noticed that my fuel mileage has gotten a little better and it sounds nice in the cab. I had 3500lbs of gravel and water in my truck the other day, the little 5.0 was rumbling pretty good trying to haul it...LOL
Dude that sounds sick!! That's what I've been seeking to make my truck sound like. Hopefully when I replace the cats with high-flows it will be a little closer to that sound.
Cost me like $110 to build the entire system. I bought some 3" 90* and 45* mandrel bent elbows from one of the local truck parts places and welded it up. I need to get a SS 3" tip to complete it.
