Well i just replced my rear driveshaft universal joint at the rear end and lemme tell you, it was REALLY shot! Cup was cracked and the pis either fell out or disintegrated. I just greased them about a month ago cause i got a bad squeeking noise when i was backing up. My dad was checking them the otherday when i went to get the grese gunand said ur not driving this till we get a new one.
Heres some pictures to go along with the story:
Turns out one of the grese channels became clogged so it heated up and cracked, not good! now i have a brand new one in there and whoa boy what a difference in the ride it has!
when you have the drive shaft out you want the truck down so you can have the emergency brake on cause the transmission isnt holding the wheels anymore.
and its my phone camera so its obviously not the best, i know how to take a picture, thanks
Yep, one of the weakest pieces in the drive train and unfortunately it usually comes from the factory without any grease fittings. Good thing you caught it before you went out on the road as it could have been disaster!
