Ask for an Oasis report or get the VIN and post in https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...st-thread.html asking for an Oasis report. This report will list all the service visits at the Ford dealerships so you'll see any warranty work that was done. Lots of warranty claims = not so good engine.

An '05 Ex uses the '04 engine. Even my 08/05 built Ex with 08/05 built engine is an '04 6.0L.

All Job#2 2005 X's have the 2005 engine. Job #2 date was sometime in mid to late Jan 2005.

Check again. Your sticker on the engine may say '2005' but it's a 'carryover' '04. 560 ft/lbs, not 570.

Check out page 2 of the 2005 update pdf. It outlines all of the updates the Excursion didn't get.

Well, I have the document and per page two it states that "Excursion vehicles carryover the 2004 MY engine for the first part of the 2005 MY". The EGR throttle is a carryover BUT my engine does not have it. I have the new fuel supply line trap, with banjo bolt and two copper washers. Also per page 5 I have the new front cover with the repositioned coolant returns for the heater and radiator.

Per your document, the fuel supply line change and front cover change are NOT interchangeable with 2003 or 2004 MY engines.

Maybe I have a one of a kind!

Once you make the decision, call Ford and ask for the build sheet so you can see when and what was original on the X.

My apologies RoyC. You are correct. I just came in from rechecking my 08/05 Huntsville built 6.0L and sure enough, I have the '05 fuel trap, front cover, and high pressure pump with revised IPR valve up on top. I assume the rest of the upgrades are there, also. The cert. sticker still states 560 ft/lbs of torque, though. 10 ft/lbs must be in the program?

Do you have a H'ville or Indy built 6.0L?

Take Care

My engine was built in Huntsville on 1/03/05. Truck was assembled 2/08/05.

It is nice to know you have all of the 05 improvements.
