05 is the last year. They will quit building the Ex in September.

I would have to guess never!!!

The 18" wheel option is so popular for the pick-ups, that they had a shortage and "stop taking orders for them" late last year. I would have to guess that they would keep them for the pick-ups only and will let the Excursion stand "as is" until they are done producing. Why spend money, marketing, time and energy on a "phased out" vehicle.

Do not wait for the wheels if you want an Excursion very badly. The date of September seems to to be the final date and always subject to change... "life isn't fair" seems to come to mind!!!

Maybe you can negotiate with your local dealer to swap tires and rims for you... just make sure your speedo is calibrated properly!!

Good luck,

Jeff

As always, specifications subject to change (I am sure it is written somewhere) and if they do not have a enough for the pick-ups, then why use them on a "phased out Excursion".

I have no proof of any of this, just common sense and what I know of "other issues" at FMC and the Super Duty Trucks.

Smile A chance of good news

Just heard from my neighbor who's shopping for an X that the dealer told him that the X is moving to an "orders" only sales model. The salesman says that the corporate demand for the X is significant enought to convince FoMoCo to keep the X on the line. Apparently, they can do this & perhaps appease the Greenpeace folks because they're not offering it soccer moms. Go figure. My neighbor also indicated that the salesman expects that they'll have an ongoing order to maintain a few on the lot.

Dunno the validitiy of this, just repeating what the salesman told my neighbor, but hey, I like the sound of it better than, no more X.

If you want to fell great about the X, fly into Denver International and take a tour of the AVIS and HErtz rental lots. About every 10th vehicle in the lot is an excursion. All ready to take families to the mountains to go skiing. I had to count at least 100 X'x of all colors in the Avis Lot alone.

If I were Ford Marketing I'd counter the Hummer campaigns with the truth about their soccer mom/macho fuel wasting image. Excursion is an ideal alternate to burb's that can't tow a travel trailer and haul an average family. Plus get 16-17 MPG empty and average 11mpg while hauling 9K. What's a hummer gonna do?

Ford's sleeping on a good add campaign, sounds like GM is doing a good job of paying off the tree huggers to keep their product lines around.
