What is the XTR package?
I'm shopping around for a newer 4x4.
What is the difference between an XLT and a XTR?
Does only the XTR have a roof console?
Is there a big difference in fuel milage between the 4.6 and the 5.4?
Is there any 2004's that are the body style of 97-03? I found one 2004 that looks like a 97-03. Perhaps it was a misprint.

Not sure on the XTR package....but yes there are 04's w/ the 97-03 body...they are called Heritage Editions...theyre kinda a mix between the two. I believe that most if not all of them came equipped w/ the 4.6. You can do a search of this fourm for more threads on the Heritage Editions. However I dont think that any of them were 4x4....just 2wd.

I know the Heritages do not come with a 5.4L, I thought you could get a 4.6 or a 4.2 though. Basically it was Ford getting rid of as much of the '99-'03 parts that they could. I have never heard of an XTR package, there is XL, XLT, STX and Lariat as well as the FX4 option. I would guess its a Canadian thing.

I've seen plenty of XTRs around here... they seem to have the higher payload package, but still 5 lug wheel... I'm not certain of specific differences. The 04s are kind of an oddball, no manual transmissions were offered on any model that year AFAIK, in case you were looking for one.

Strictly an appearance package. They come with:
-woodgrain bezels (fugly)
-split 5 star 17" rims
-running boards
-painting grill (non-honeycomb)
-captains chairs
-fog lights
Mine is only slighlty an XTR now. I have since painted the interior bezels black and replaced the grill with a painted honeycomb one.

my XTR also has a 6 disk changer, but that could have been ordered besides the XTR package, and hey I like my wood grain accents... I know ALOT of people who say to me, " You can buy the carbon fiber accents to cover those up you know".
