I recently did the ccv mod but was unable to remove the housing because it is 3-3/8" on one end and 4" on the other. Also the old orange boot is breaking down and needs replaced. The factory boot is 3" on one side and 3-3/8" on the other.
Question: Is there a boot that is 3" on the turbo side and 4" on the filter end. I really want to put a piece of 4" exhaust in there to eliminate the ccv housing. I have seen it on some of you guys pics and you guys have what I need but I just can't seem to find it. Suggestions???????
I have searched these two and the only thing I can come up with will have to be pieced together. I have seen what I need on tj's pics I do believe. Still searching. Thanx Cuda.
My orange boot is 3" on the turbo side and 3-3/8" on the filter side. I need one that is 3" and 4" respectively. I will look into the SD boot. I guess I should look at my EX to see if that will fit what I need and go to the dealer. Thanx tj
here's come more info for you. Your EX unit will fit assuming they are the same as the trucks
Intake Hose Kit (updated kit replaces orange hose, includes replacement for aluminum center section)
(Ford) F7TZ-9C681-AA
Intake Hose, updated black (Replacement hose for above, does not directly replace orange hose)
(Ford) F81Z-9C681-BA
I would just get the bottom number (the replacement hose) then you can use the 4" exhuast pipe like I did.
Thanks Neal. Keep us posted. Worse comes to worse tell your wife her EX is broke and she can't drive it then take her intake boot and drive all you want!
I saw a while ago where someone took the CCV connector on top the drivers side valve cover off and turned it around, which put the fitting at the back of the valve cover. From there he ran some tubing down to the exhaust I think.
Question: Does that CCV connector on the valve cover attach with machine screws or bolts with nuts inside the valve cover? In other words, do you need to remove the valve cover to turn the connector around?
Thanks Neal. I just looked at TJ's pics of it. His pics are the ones I referred to above - just couldn't remember who it was. I'll need to get the new black hose first.
yes as Neal said no need to remove the VC just two phillips head screws that hold it down. You also don't need the black intake hose to do the CCV mod. you can do it with the orange boot/aluminum housing. Just plug the hole left by removing the CCV hose. many people just find a plug of some sort and JB weld it in. then cut the spout off flush that is inside the intake tract.
Thanks Tim. I might do it that way. But your hookup is much cleaner looking. My dealer wants $51 for that hose. I couldn't find one on the links above. Guess I may be heading for the Upull again soon.
