Anyone have issues using a high volumn oil pump and a stock intermediate shaft? The thought just occured to me when I was thinking of blue printing the oil pump. My 460 has a 3/8" thick shaft with the 5/16" ends and the 390 uses a 1/4" thick shaft if I remember right. I can buy a M-6605-A427 locally but it will take a few days to come in and cost $40 with shipping. Despite the fact the shaft only costs $16.95 as per FMS website. I guess they are shipping it with gold leaf as the cushion material.
I never had a problem with a stock oil pump drive shaft with a high volume pump and I've been using them since the early 60's. I've seen some people create a problem by using a high volume/ high pressure pump and then using straight 50 weight oil during the cooler times of year.
Ok thanks. I was worried about it twisting due to it's smaller diameter then the one I have in my 460. The one that was in the 390 is fine, no twists or wear marks so I will leave well enough alone.
