whats the heavy duty package provide? Just stiffer rear leafs? How can you tell if you bought the thing used?

Like ATC said, If you have the 4.2L or 4.6L, then you have an 8.8 rear axle and if you have the 5.4L, then you have the 9.75 rear axle.

The heavy duty 7700lb payload package has the 10.25 rear axle like jr said. The unique thing about the 7700 models is that they have 7 lug nut wheels. Good luck!

ahhhh. Okay, so if you can no longer read the stamped tag on your rear end so dont know your gearing aside from what has been mentioned you would only have the 7700lb if you had the 7 lug wheels.
