troubled transmission
When pulling our 14,000lb trailer the transmission in my 97' feels like it is slipping a little when you first take off. once it shifts to 2nd its fine. I had it scaned for codes and nothing came up. If I had the money I would just rebuild it now but I dont. Would puting a shift kit and valve body help the problem or should I have sust the first gear rebuilt?

A shift kit might help. usually once they start to slip there is little to be done about it though. if its just a little and the clutches haven't glazed over yet you might get lucky and install the shift kit and get some more miles out of it. If not make sure the shift kit gets into your next tranny.
