Here are some things that I tried that had been suggested in the past by this forum. New boots, new clamps, hair spray (it does work) plus doing the CCV mod to keep your intercoller clean.
I have never heard or seen an intercooler getting clog as of yet! To clean it, you will have to pull it and simply wash it out with water and simply green. You must let it drain completely. I have not done it but other have. From my understanding there is not that much oil that gets trapt in there. Maybe a couple of onces.
I had the same problem. I cleaned the boot with simple green and reinstalled it. It held for a while too. But after this happend several times I opted to change the boot as is was looking pretty beat up. It really takes its toll on the stock boots everytime you blow them off the IC pipe. So I opted a year ago to change them out for an HD IC boot. Problem solved.. Oh I'm also running the GT BB Turbo so for me that has alot to do with it. Country.
You guys ever buy the boots from Diesel Site? There clamps are slightly larger than the OEM clamps when they are fully tightened. This is where I was having the problem with the boots blowing off. Anyone else have this problem after installing the new boots from them? I took the new clamps off and installed the old ones and no more problems.
When I changed out my boots, I used the old clamps. They where still in great shape. I did have one boot blow once but that was my own fault for not tighten them up. I have heard nothing but good things about "Diesel Site"
The only time I had my Dieselsite boots blow off was right after the 6.0L intercooler install. I tried to reuse the clamp on the driver's side inlet to the cooler, which is a 1/4" smaller than the stock inlet. The boot popped off with less than 10 psi of boost, so I had to pick up a smaller clamp and life has been good ever since. The experience I've had with them is that they are difficult to even peel off once they are on. But then again, I've done the CCV mod so I have no oil in the intercooler system.

Last week I sucked a 6637 through the turbo and clogged my Spearco pretty good. Somehow didn't hurt the turbo but definitely stopped-up my IC. I blew it out backwards with a backpack blower (Redmax EB7000, blows plenty of CFMs) per Kris' suggestion.
As for blowing boots, I run custom pipes and each one has a bead welded around the end. You don't have to have custom pipes to do this, just make sure whoever welds on your stock IC pipes has the heat turned down. This is a sure bet to keeping boots where they need to be. My boots are custom aswell, but not anymore custom than going to TruckPro to buy the stuff and cut it to desired lengths. In my case they're cut long to accomodate double-clamps.
