Air through defrost only
Hmm I think I haven't said howdy. HOWDY!! I've lurked for a while, and commented, but I think this is my first question.
Okay.....
I have been sifting through existing posts, and came across this...

I wonder if my 02 Explorer defaults to defrost the same way that '99 does?
I'm quite sure it's not the dreaded Blend Door Demon. I can select warm/cool settings, but the front dash vents seem to be out of the loop.
Except for one day, when I could control the vent choices for cooling, this problem has persisted since we got the vehicle in Jan this year- 2007
I'm not doing well physically, so I haven't done a search for loose and broken vaccuum lines. (Will do so soon)

the air flow thru the duct is controlled by a vacuum cylinder and door. the vacuum cylinder goes to the defrost section if it has no vacuum. you are looking for a vacuum leak. most common is under the hood at the fire wall. it is possibly the hose has come off the selector **** inside the dash also.--- do the hood area first.
