I really feel stupid asking this question, but here it goes. I have a 2001 F-250 Superduty pick-up with the 5.4l engine. I am trying to locate the ECU code on this truck but I am unable to do so. I tried looking in the drivers side door jam by the hinges, but there is absolutely nothing there. I also removed the two 7mm screws on the unit by the drivers side kick panel, but after removing the screws, I was unable to pull it away from the body to view any stickers or labels.
I hope I am not the only person who has this problem, but I am getting very frustrated.
If you can offer any assistance or advice I would really appreciate it...
The computer is located to the right of the emergency brake inside the cab. Remove the 10mm bolt from the top of the metal bracket and the 10mm nut from the bottom. Remove the 10 nut from the wiring harness bracket (engine compartment, on the firewall, this is the other end of the computer). Remove the computer by pulling it out with the metal bracket. Pull the computer box out of the plastic case. The code is on the box and on the wiring harness cable/bracket in the engine compartment.
