Any one here running rockwell axles? I have a 79 bronco that I want to put them under. How involved is the conversion? what wheels do you run? How are the brakes? What about rear steer? please help
holy bananas batman! for that price I hope you are going with rear steer and a little work done to them! I know they are pricey in Florida because everyone is after them... but they shouldn't be that much.
I can get a pair of f/r for 1175 any day... but I am talking to an individual seller right now.
where are you guys finding these?? i would love to find some for my dodge mud truck ( ya i know its a ford website lol) but i can only find them from boyce equipment new and rebuilt i have a guy that wants to trade me for new $4000 rebuilt, geard, and locked 1tons but therockwells need to be rebuilt plus i would like to keep the 1tons cause i wanna build a jeep after installing the rockwells on the dodge. i need some some rockwells and im willing to drive so if anyone knows a place or someone selling them PLEASE let me know asap ill pick them up 2morrow!!!!!
redriverparts.com has it all, its where I bought mine, and it's where I would go for business again. They are located in New Boston, TX... its in the faaaaaaaaaar Northeast corner of TX, right by Texarkana.
STAY AWAY from USA6x6, the owner freakin rips people off, BAD.
RRP's Rockwells run you $750 front and $375 rear. It's a good price, but not a killing. Powerstroker88, where are you located?
As far as the original post, I am probably going to run the original military rims, unless I can find a local shop to split the wheels, and then I will get two halves from the military wheels (will take a total of 8 rims) and then weld in some stamped centers myself, but I will have to order the center sections. this will result in a double beadlock similar to Stazwork's or USA6x6's...
They are not rebuilt. If you go in person, you can pick them out though. I found two that were newer (check the tags on the differential housing), one of which had a remanned housing. The rear had perfect axle shafts and seals, but I haven't gotten into the front yet. I edited my other post for the prices on the axles, 750 front, 375 rear. He said he hasn't gotten a single Bendix or Repeza style axle yet, only U-joints, but you might as well check the tag to see if you go in person. Most of his sales are to Florida people... that will either be one hell of a road trip or on hell of a shipping bill!
damn!! i would like to find someone selling them cause i dont have time to go pick them out and like you said that would be one hell of a shipping charge
He said a lot of people drive to get them from Fl. Try and find someone local who is going and tell them that you'll split gas 50/50 or you'll cover 2/3's the cost, and request that he picks you out a decent pair. Best way to going about that is join some local forums for offroading, I know yall have some... mud bogging is huge down there
