regearing stock axle?
does anyone know where i can purchase gears for the factory rear in a '49 F2 at a ratio of around 3.00 or taller.
I would like to keep the entire truck original, but also want to be able to go faster than 50mph...

Sorry to say that is the only gears available for that rear axle. The 4.11:1 gears are hard to find. Your best of to find a 67-72 F-250 Dana 60 as it is a near bolt in and is twice as strong. The highest gear you can get in a 60 is 3.54:1. The only way you could get close to a 3.00:1 ratio with 8 bolt hubs is a Dana 61. They were in the 70's and 80's trucks but they will be slightly to wide. They came in 3.07:1 and 3.37:1.
