I'm looking for a padded mat to throw under the truck to work on it. I've seen them, they fold in half for starage and when unfolded that are about the size of a creeper. Anyone know where to get one?
Wow, that is a lot more expensive than I was figuring. Why not just get a creeper, I was able to get one at Walmart for $30. It's not the greatest but it gets the job done.
Like Bigziff mentioned, think about getting an old moving blanket. They can be used to do what you are looking for and much more. I've got one in my toolbox right now.
Creepers don't work well in gravel and dirt. Looking to put the mat in my bed box for emergancy repairs...
I just have one of those blue, plastic tarps folded up in a container that lives in the bed of the truck. It gets used for all kinds of stuff including lying on the ground working on things while in the field. Granted, rocks and crap poke through it into your back..maybe the pads would help with that if you use it a lot.
I used to carry an old fender mat in the bed of the 150 for just that reason. Now I just carry an old moving pad behind the back seat for the same reason.

CHEAP PAD: just some clean cardboard sheets
also, consider some moving blankets, they are soft and are perfect for that application because you can roll it up orfold it up ad put in toolbox

A piece of old carpet works just great and is a heck of a lot cheaper than a specialty item.
It might be my imagination, but if you use something new and expensive it acts as an oil magnet or causes you to fumble an oil filter creating a mess. If you use something that is destined for the trash anyhow it seems to last longer.
