Newbie Question

hey everyone, I'm a nebie and i don't know *****...lol. anyway I bought a 05 powerstroke dually with a hiding goose neck hitch (flips upside down). Can I still install a regular 5th wheel hitch? Also I've been told that all powerstrokes run rough untill they warm up, mine runs really rough, is this normal or do I have a problem somewhere. Thanks for any help or advice you can offer.

Fifth wheel ? I don't know. I do know that I've never noticed any "rough running" with my '05 PSD. Ever. Did you look through the 6.0 forum? You can usually find anything you need there.

Welcome to the site!

I've got an 03 with the 6.0....she starts right up with no roughness/no smoke.

Tell us a little more about your truck...miles, mods etc and that will help with your answers.

If you just bought the truck, I'd suggest running an OASIS report to see what kinds (if any) dealer warranty work has been done to the truck.

If you have the B&W turnover ball system you can purchase a fifth wheel hitch that fits the same hole as the ball. Or you could opt for the gooseneck adapter. Do a search for B&W turnover ball for their products.

I know it had a decent amount of warrantee work done, they even replaced the motor @ 56k miles. It has 135k miles now total (79k on new motor). I was trying to locate OASIS online but I had no luck. It had some injector work done too. I was under the impression that these diesels are low maintance and reliable. DO you guys think I have a lemon? It runs good and strong once the motor is warmed up. It has no mods. Thanks

Down in the 6.0 forum you will usually find a few members who will get you an Oasis report on your vehicle.

A 6.0 is a reliable engine and should not run rough when started cold. Are there any other symptoms besides running rough?

I really don't have a clue, I just bought it 2 weeks ago. wouldn't that cause it to run rough all the time though?

Your best bet would be to address this over in the diesel forum. A whole lot more information there. Interesting though as I am looking into a 6.0 PSD myself. Good luck.
