Most popular ones are the MBRP and Magnaflow. They are both direct bolt in 4" systems. Depending on where you live you can choose to get either aluminized or stainless steel. If you are up north where they salt roads, you might want to spend a bit more and get the stainless.
As for installation, the stock exhaust comes out pretty easily, except for the downpipe. You'll need a sawzaw to cut it off at the bend near the transmission crossmember in order to pull it out. Also a good idea would be to use PB Blaster or some other penetrating lube on the downpipe clamp at the turbo to make removal much easier. The v-clamp tends to rust to the pipe. The new exhaust is easier to install if you have a helper to hold the downpipe in place as you line it up. The alignment of the downpipe is key when putting it back together, otherwise it will rattle up against the transmission crossmember bolt.
You will hear a lot of opinions on hear about the exhaust. I have 5in cannon straighted piped with a 6in SS tip. The only thing that sounds better to me is stacks. The sound of the trucks is not that much louder than one with a muffler. You will hear a lot more whistle without the muffler. Get the 5in and you wont have to look back and say I wish I had the Cannon. Just my 2 cents worth.
My 2 cents: I put a Banks dual exhaust on my '03 7.3L. I know a lot of people say don't go with Banks, but I did my research and I felt this was what I was looking for. I love the look of the dual tips out behind the rear tires, it looks bad a$$, IMO. Not much noise when idling, but when you put your foot down, the exhaust comes alive. Also, installation was easy too, but just like Pocket said, you will need to cut the stock downpipe to get it out. Otherwise, pretty easy install. Again, this is just my 2 cents, and you can do what you think is best for your needs.
You dont have to spend alot $$ to get a kick a$$ system, most of the systems out there are of high quality and low $$. MBRP is one example. I have Banks and I like the exhaust, great sound and great quality, HOWEVER the price I paid for mine was ridiculous. I could have gotten the same quality and sound for half the price had I done a little more looking and asked a few more questions. Look at our sponsors list and go to their websites and compare prices. Good luck and post pics when you make your decision.
this is for 4" turbo back for $295..i have his 5" with a 6" tip for $390 on my door steps last october..i love it..we run alot of salt up here so i painted mine with black stove paint..so far it still looks new...
