ok so I got the hangers loose and the clamps off and the pipe disconnected from the downpipe back. Here's the problem. It seems like the pipe behind the CAT has been swedged into the CAT by the clamp. I can wiggle and tug and bang it around but can't seem to get it apart. So I just punted on 4th and long by putting the clamp back in a different spot. hopefully a little heat and vib. and Marvel oil will convince 'em. I did take it for a test run while I had it opened up- much nicer turbo spool sound. It just sings up the hill
There is a pin on the exhaust pipe that mates to a slot on the CAT pipe, make sure that the slot has not been pinched shut. If it has, use a flat head srcew driver and a wrench to open it up. If you do not have access to a torch, try driving a flat head screw dirver under the CAT pipe flange to spread it some. Do this all of the way around. The CAT should then knock right off. Good Luck.
I don't know about noticeable (some say faster spool and deeper tone) but anytime you can free up the exhaust you are doing your self a favor. the only draw back is if you have inspections in your locale and you cut the cat completely out and replace with a staright pipe.
