I bought some cheapo Mr gasket valve covers and got them put on today, 2 of the holes didnt line up on the drivers side, couldnt get a bolt in it.OIt was off by 1/8" or so. Went on and finished and started her up and I can hear a knocking like the valves are tapping against those valve covers lightly. Knocking was not there before with stock ford valve covers. Are these valve covers just junk? Too short so that the valves are tapping against them and also just out of shape enough that I cant get those 2 bolts in there? Any one else have a similar problem? I'm thinking I'll just go buy another set of gaskets and put the stock ones back on. Or am I just to stupid to change valve covers successfully
I'm wondering if the reason the holes don't line up is because your rocker arms are interfering with your baffles....hence the ticking sound you hear. You might be able to make them work with some trim work.
I put the stock ones back on and she purrs like a kitten no knocking. I guess I'll need some taller valve covers. I'm out the cost of one gasket set $12 or so. I'll know next time. Thanks guys.
Advance Auto gave me my money back even though they were oily and had gaskets/ gasket maker on em. I just wanted to make it look a little better my ford blue ones are rusty.

Advance Auto also sells OEM Ford Blue engine high temp paint for a lot less than the new valve covers.
