2002 Expedition Rear AC

Trying understand a problem with the rear auxiliary unit. My 2002 Expedition has electronic climate control and front AC & Heat works fine - blows both cold air and hot air. The rear unit only provides "room temp" air when the aux temp control is placed all the way on cool. If the aux temp control is moved to "warm" the unit does blow very heated air so seems like the blend door is moving. Appreciate any help...

Sounds like the rear condensor/evaporator/whatever is in the box in the rear is not getting cooled. I can't imagine you have completely independent systems for front and rear, so I would assume you have one compressor that feeds both whatevers. I'd suspect a blockage.

I belive that you are correct in thinking a blend door. hot air from a convector coil will kill any attempt to cool return air.

Hi,

I have the same problem. So by replacing the temperature blend door actuator the problem will be solve, or is a different issue?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

Sometimes, but sometimes, you just have a piece of debris jambing the door open.

Thanks for the reply.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

So I should take off the temperature door actuator and check the door?<o></o>

One more thing the evaporator core on the climate control housing is cold, that’s a good thing, right?<o></o>

I removed the temperature blend door actuator and is working. I have done this with out removing rear quarter trim panel. To get to the door I have to remove the quarter panel, right? Any tricks there?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
