My truck got broken into today while at work. The broke the slider window catch. It is just plastic and they pryed it open with a screw driver, thus breaking the clip. I had nothing of value in the truck. The only thing they got this time was about $10.00 of Canadian tire money. Had to clean the truck up. Contents of glove box on floor along with all my truck spotter cards.
Glad thats all they got and no broken windows.
I share your frustration and anger at two-legged varmints (at that same time, I've been lucky enought not to be victimized - lately!)
I love the slider for ventilation on my Ranger at this time of year, but I am keenly aware (and thanks, by the way, for giving folks a heads-up by sharing your own misfortune) of their vulnerability. I've been working, on and off (as seems to be my way) on a headache rack/side rails/crude box cover) that would at least through some mesh in front of the rear window. Thanks for giving me added incentive to get at 'er!
66, May your predators break down someday, on a lonely stretch of road, forty below, and no good folks like yourself stop to help 'em!
I don't know what he will get with the Canadian tire money. Most of these guys along where I work are druggies and alcohlics. They are stealing for the next fix or drink.
Sad they are that bad, yet when I worked security you get tired of seeing the same ones coming in all the time getting meds and cleaned up and meals, to only go back out and be more interested in the next hit or drink. At times we just could not feel sorry for them. You just can't wait to see them come in for the freezer.
Sad howsociety can affect people and the people who try to help them. I will admit I was getting cold about them.
Most of us aren`t equiped or trained to help alcoholics or druggies, we just become their victims by trying to help.
I got suckered in the giving a guy $10 who had a sob story about being broke and stuck in a strange city. When he reached in the truck window to get it the smell of booze was very evident, by then it was too late.
All I ended up doing was pushing him further down his road of dispair by buying him another round or two.
my FIL got took in winnipeg in a similar situation...the guy was saying his kid was sick, needing medicine or something...gave him 40-60$$, i can't remember now. price you pay for trying to be kindhearted!!
The odd time the story maybe true but most of the time it`s a scam.
A while back there were a couple of guys working the large mall parking lots with deaf mute cards asking for donations so we`d give them a couple of $. One day we didn`t which prompted the one guy to do some swearing....
Someone must have complained as they disappeared after that.
its really sad how people are so crooked. if they really do need help, so be it. but when others take advantage of the good in people(as rare as it is) its really nasty. i remember reading in a magazine a while back that most "homeless" in some big cities are really millionaires, but because of greed will dress domn and take advantage of the good hearted public. humanity sucks.

I think there is a lot of good in people out there. There are fewer nasty people. They are the ones that live for money at all costs on others and the crooks who tak advantage of the good people nature. What happens is the good people just get sick of helping out to only be found taken adavantage of. So they are not as willing to help out any more. They just don't want to be screwed over and hurt their egos because some greedy scum**** took advantage of them again by tricking them with a sob story that is totally not true.
Good people just will be more cautious when doleing out to help others. But the greedy and crooked will just learn to be more crafty at mis leading to get a coin.
I too if I was a millionaire would not dress up or drive fancy cars. I try and stay the same to not draw the attention to me.
Some people out there are just useless. IMO those bums that beg for money and homeless, are not going to get a dime from me. I have to work hard to earn money, and Ill be damned if I am going to give it away to someone who just has to sit there and ask for it.
Im glad for the theif that you didnt catch him in the act Glen. On the same note you would have been nice and close to a hospital for him!
