Question rebuilt 4.2
5\30\07

How much should a rebuilt 4.2 cost for my 1997 f150.


Would a 3.8 fit ok ?

Don't know about the 3.8, but you should be able to source a rebuilt 4.2 for somewhere in the 2-3 grand range. Check around on Napa, advance, auto zone, O'reillys, and see what they have for ya.

4.2 is a 3.8 with a longer stroke, most parts are interchangeable. 3.8 has less torque, unless you get your hands on a t-bird s/c engine.
