Question Code 1537 on 1997 E250 4.2, help please.

Autozone came up with a code 1537 today on my E250 4.2 1997. He said it was not a code they could "read" and tell what the problem was. The code reader did show something about Throtle control, or speed control but I didn't get a good look at the decoder. Any info on this code?
Thanks,
Joe

I believe your Intake Manifold Runner Control is stuck open. You might check for vacuum leaks. Or, you might need to replace your IMRC vacuum pump.

I agree. I am not positive but believe 1537 is an IMRC problem. Not sure if it means stuck open or stuck closed, but that is where I'd go looking.

if imrc is stuck open the symtems are, loss of tick-over and lack of performance in the lower rev range. in my case vacuum leak was the cause.

the imrc vacuum units are to be found at the back of the engine they are black and have black vacuum pipes running to them. they inturn open the the rails that move the flaps on the dual intake.
in my case the flaps were open all the time.
the best way to check that the flaps are free to move is to suck on the pipe that goes to both of them and listen carefully, you will hear them open and slap shut when the vacuum is released.
it is a long reach to suck on the pipe but it will tell you if all is ok.
wd40 can be used to free off any sticking rails as the flaps need to be shut, up to about 2,700 revs, then open with vacuum, to go to full throttle. (just like a twin choke carb).
hope this helps bokker.
