Air Conditioning Problem
Hey there, I have a 99 F250SD V10, problem is that the a/c compressor won't engage. I have checked all (i think) the relevent fuses - under hood and in the passenger compartment. I have also checked the low pressure cycle switch and it is closed, which I think indicates there is ample pressure to allow the compressor to run. I even jumpered that plug as the haynes manual suggests; still the compressor will not engage. Are there any other places or components I should check? Thanks for any advice.

With the A/C on, is there 12 volts at the connector to the compressor clutch? If there is, then, with the engine off and the compressor clutch connector disconnected, check the resistance of the clutch coil with a meter. It could be an open coil.

Yes it has worked very well up until just this past Saturday afternoon. Drove it to my parents' house - worked fine, shut it off, wouldn't work on the way home.

On mine it's a 2 wire flat connector that plugs into the body of the compressor right behind the pulley at about the 10 o'clock position as viewed from the front. Depending on the compressor model used, yours may be a little different but it should be the only electrical connector on the front of the compressor.
