Frame VIN location on Highboy?

Yes I researched it first.

I know there is one on the passenger frame rail(at least on 78/79 which is what I've usually owned). Is it on top behind the motor mount-next to the starter? There is a metal plate that looks to be welded to the frame in that spot on both sides of my frame. Is that factory?Would the number be stamped into that?I sanded it a little and didnt see anything yet.

I just dont want to sand every inch of my frame if I can narrow it down to where they are located on the early frames.I'd like to find two spots if possible.

Also, what was the last year for front drum brakes?1975?This thing can be anything from a '67 on up to that!

I feel so out of the loop.I havent had one of the pre-78 in a looong time!

Usually Stamped right into the frame steel and NOT into anything that can be removed

Also stamped under the cab in the same relative area.

unless you have stripped your cab off, this one is your best option.

Thats the one I'm looking for,but there is a plate welded to the frame there.Top and sides. Not sure if its factory or what.Tough to tell.

At this point,I just need to find any 2 numbers either on the body or on the frame. The door tag is gone(door was swapped) and the sticker is unreadable.Any other ideas on where I can look?

Sounds like someone tried to hide the VIN. No door tag and odd plates welded to the frame. Hmmm

What are the numbers on that plate ?

You see , this is the procedure that some DMV's allow people to Give homebuilt vehicle a VIN #.

This happens when 2 or 3 salvage vehicles are used to make one
