I dont think you can just open a plug on an automatic trans and expect it all to drain out. You can do a pan drop and probably would need 3-5 qts to refill it.
I know it won't all come out. I am going to just drop the plug every 20,000 miles - I am using Mobil 1 Synthetic and eventually it will all be mobil 1 in there. I will change the external filter by the water to oil cooler in another 20k.
Well i guess ford did something right on these trucks finally lol. For some reason i thought you meant you were going to try and pull some kind of plug on the side of the trans and expect it to drain, thats why i was like wtf? lol All my other fords never had trans drain plugs. Bronco's and various ford cars.
Why not just pump out the tranny by pulling the return line from the cooler?? Takes only a little extra time, but you'll have nearly every drop changed.
