Post 1. - Wiper / Wiper washer issue

Great Site!!!! Awesome information!!! I own a 2002 F250 SD Regular cab with the 7.3 auto. 168k for miles and runs like a top yet.

I have only had one issue that I can't resolve. The other day my windshield wipers and washer fluid quit working. Nothing at all happens when I turn them on. The blinkers and hazard and dimmer switch still work but the wiper and washer fluid don't work from the switch (stem). I verified that the wiper motor was good. I bought a new multifunction switch and installed it and that did not work. I here that it can be the G.E.M., but I know nothing about that and would like to hear if anyone else has had this issue. I did check all the fuses also.

Please help as I don't want to take this into the Ford shop.

Thankful in South Dakota for web sites like this!!!

Update:
Took it to the Ford dealership and they had it for 3 hours and told me that the "junction box" (Fuse Panel) needed to be replaced????? I questioned them on that and asked if they checked the wire from the wiper motor to the fuse panel? They did not. I did when I got home and it has no connectivity from the green wire on the wiper motor to the wire behind the junction box (fuse panel). That tells me that the wire is bad not the junction box? Junction box is $500 + labor!!!!

Any help out there? I was thinking about running a hot wire (wire is hot at all times) and splice into the wiper motor. This should work? Any thoughts out there?

How about the relays on the driver's side under the hood? Does anyone have an idea what these are for? There are 3 separate relay boxes on the drivers side fender well.

Thanks for any help!!!!

This is a shot in the dark since you have 3 posts to your name and this is a thread from 2007 but I have the same symptoms.

Did you come up with a solution?

Have you found a solution to this problem?
I have an 02 f-250 that is doing the same thing. The only way I can turn off the wipers is by removing the fuse for it. Other than that, it runs all of the time.

With the rest of my mess I had forgotten that my wipers didn't work.

Here's where I am right now:

A month ago my wipers stopped and then started working again and then stopped completely. Then my fuel pump stopped working and then started and then stopped, etc... Then the engine shutdown for good.

3 weeks later, 2 shops later and the truck has a new computer (from Ford because no junkyard has one and no autoparts store wants the headache) and supposedly the engine now runs. It's currently being reassembled at Ford.

For those who care, "stealership" has been taken to a whole new level.

Edit: Just called and the wipers do appear to work now.

Thanks for the reply. I have replaced the factory turn signal assembly in the steering column, and it seemed to work for about 3 minutes....I guess untill something got warmed up, and then the same problem would occur. I was told by a mechanic that it was probably the computer which is $400 to $600 to replace. Being umemployed, rain-x will have to work for now. I will be really pissed off if I do spend that amount and the problem does not get resolved!

I don't know if that relates to the problems above, but I had a wiper assembly fire on my truck couple years ago. The truck was parked for 2 weeks and started smoking with small rain. My wife could not open the hood, but fortunately it stop on its own. I made a thread about it. The limit switch assembly seems to have poor protection and shorted with some moisture. The 30 amp fuse let the assembly melt pretty good before going off.

Where is the limit switch located? I only have the owners manuel that came with the truck. I guess this would be cheaper to find out if it is messed up than to have the computer replaced.
