Broken dash mount

My '93 has a perfect interior, except that the passenger side dash mount (which appears to be plastic) is snapped, causing that side of the dash to shudder over bumps. Is this common, and something an average joe can fix easily? Thanks.

Broken dash mount

Well, I went to Ford and they have a repair part available (apparently this problem is common enough theat they have an add-on part) which is part no. F4TZ-1504366-A and is about $13.
That's the good news. Unfortunately, it involves the use of truss-head rivets. Since this is beyond my do-it-yourselfer's toolbox, I went back to Ford to ask what they would charge to install it. The answer? Six hours of labor, at a total of $405. So unless you're Mr. Trump, my advice is to deal with it.
