Spartan Tuner Dash Pod Wont Stay on Dash

Hey guys and gals,

Might sound like a silly question, but Im having an issue with the dash pod for the tuner. I can not get this thing to stay on the dash. I have the pod that mounts on the dash above the vent.

I bought a 50 dollar roll of some 3m two sided tape that a bodyshop sold me that they said they use to hold all kinds of things on to all kinds of vehicles, and said its the best stuff out there.

But the damn thing keeps falling off the dash. I have cleaned the surfaces really really well, and no matter what I have tried, i cant get anything to stick to the dash part of the truck for longer than a day or so.

Anyone have any ideas, something besides screwing it down?!

Are you using the one that came with it or are you using the Edge pod holder?

I'll give Velcro a shot. I would think that this two sided tape would have the same kind of stickiness, but I'll give it a shot. Thanks.

I was having a similar issue with the mount for my H&S. I bought a metal headliner mount and when the truck got hot inside, the glue would come off and the mount would fall. I used the 3M industrial strength plastic velcro and it did the trick. I used to use this when I worked at the boat shop. Good stuff and will definitely solve your problem.

Just to update, I bought some velcro, and it did not last at all, exact same issue, the two way tape sticks on the pod, but not on the dash. I cleaned the dash very well before install as well.

Guess ill have to look for something else. I have a window suction mount from an old sirius that I dont use anymore, I might try mounting the dashdaq on that and see if that works.

What are you cleaning the dash with? It is a kind of rough surface, so getting it cleaned in all the low spots can be a challenge.
I have used carburetor cleaner on a rag(be careful it can melt some plastics) and then followed by 90% rubbing alcohol.
Maybe apply a little heat to the dash first and then after with a heat gun?
