ok so i guess the original poster has not replied......anyway iam having the same problem. in a pile of my dads misc mustang parts, i found a 4bbl holley carb. i asked him about it and if i could use/have it , he said its all mine. he said it came off a 289 many years ago, and has been sitting around ever since. anyway, i currently have a 2bbl on my 302, and was looking into buying a 4bbl, but now i have this one, and i have no clue how to find out which one it is. so once agian, does anyone know how to figure out what carb i have? as LXMAN1 said above, there should be a number on the front right of the choke horn....well i see a number in front of what i THINK is the choke horn.....a plate that is covering 2 of the 4 barrels, or whatever that are called. anyway the number is 6R 1717 B ....can someone please help me out. Iam kinda lost...

That is a HARD to find carb...it fits Shelby Cobra 289's, 1965/66 Shelby GT350's and will bring a chunk of green on ebay. It was also used on 1965/66 Mustang K cars. K = 271 HP solid liftered 289..same engine in the Cobra/GT 350's. Sell it..and get something more modern.

Take that Holley carb list number to NAPA. They have the Holley parts books, and can sell you (maybe) the parts you need.
That is a universal 600cfm vacuum secondary Holley with a manual choke. Nothing special, the least expensive carb 4bbl carb that they make. They were about $99 new when the -2 series was being made in the late 80's. The newer ones are -5 now I think. Just minor revisions. Like the -3 had plastic choke linkage that broke alot so they went back to metal on the -4.
It is a standard 4160 series carb and kits are easy to come by. AutoZone usually has them.
I got all excited when someone said they had one of these carbs. and then shoot down when they realized that it was an 1850!!
I found this carb. not sure where, weather it was in a car that I bought or just some parts that I bought at an auction?? Anyway I have a Holley Carb that does not have a Choke or ever had a choke so no air horn for a choke and the only numbers I can find are #6B 1717 B and those numbers are on the left side of the carb where normally the choke lever would come up to operate the choke butterfly.. There is a 7B on the opposite side same place..
This is a single line vacuum secondary and there are no numbers on the metering plates either..
Please if anyone has any info on this carb please let me know!!
Thanks Bill
