i prefer to do most of my own work on my truck. me personally i would remove the rims and drop them off at a tire store. yeah its more work but less chance of them screwing something up on the truck.

That's not going to work if they guy isn't wanting to install the tires because the rims are too narrow

But if they guy just won't install bigger than the door sticker says that may work.

I ran into this a while back at Wal Mart. I went in to have tires put on a '92 E150, the stock tires according to the door are P235/75/15XL. Well WM doesn't sell ANY P rated XL tires so I asked for LT235/75/15s (same load rating) the tech tried to argue with me about it. I showed him where he was mistaken and then he got the manager involved who called another store. The other store laughed at them both and told them to put the tires on it, they are the same size.
