Tire Sizes

Hi
I was wondering if I could put a 33x12.50x16 " tire on a 2004 F-250 without a lift kit. It has the Fx4 off road package.

Thanks Mike

I would not put a 12.5" wide tire on a 7" wide rim....

try a 285/75/16 instead... it fits, and is 33" tall.

good luck

same here, just ordered bfg mt's 285/75/16 anything wider will rub and probably have crappy wear, although many guys do run 305/70/16 and Yeti even ran 315/75/16 on his stock truck. i would also think twice about the 285/75/16 if you do not have the snow plow option. this option raises the truck up about an inch or 2 making it level, allowing you to fit the bigger tires without any problems. off road package dont mean nothing more then a cute FX4 sticker and some white shocks with red boots and Rancho stickers. good luck.

BigDawg, I ran 33x12.50x16.5, but they were on 9.75 wide wheels.

BigDawg, (or anyone who knows for certain!)...

I am thinking of upgrading to 285/75X16's on my stock rims but I am also going to add a leveling kit. Will I be ok???

You'll be more than fine.

With a levelling kit you could run 295/75-16's no problem.

I have the 285 BFG's (see sig) and they're wearing really nicely. You just have to watch the pressure. I usually run 45-50 psi unloaded for even wear and best ride.

I have Cooper Discoverer STT in 285/75 on my truck w/ stock rims. I go off road on the weekends (usually in search of a hunting or fishing "hot spot") and have never experienced in rubbing. My truck does have the snow plow package though. The tires are pretty new but don't seem to be wearing unevenly.

My 2 cents...

yea i forgot to add that Yeti had wider rims. but Yeti, your profile says 35" bfg's on stock truck other then the rims. with a leveling kit you could run the 33/12.5 without rubbing. everyone runs all different stuff i just feel that 285/75/16 is the largest tire for a 16x7 rim especially when most manufactures require a 7.5 or wider rim for the 285/75. but as you can see a good amount of people do sqeeze the larger tires on stock rims.

I have 315/70/16 on a 15x8 wheel. They do not rub with moderate of roading in the sand and a few fire roads. My truck is stock with the snow plow prep package. The Goodyears are according to spec 33.4" tall.

a 33x12.5(305/70) should fit with out rubbing unless you flex your truck to the max. I have a 96 with 305's on 8 inch rims, they meausre 32.4 tall and 11 wide. I have never rubbed and i have done some pretty good wheeling with it.

Nice truck Dagwood.

Does anyone know if they are different X springs for the V-8 as opposed to the diesel?
If not, how much higher does the V-8 sit than stock? How about the diesel?

i know the diesels front springs are different than the gas motors. The diesel motor is pushng 1,000 pounds, so the springs are stiffer to hold the weight. I am not sure about ride height, i know i sit about 2 or 3 inches taller than my neighbors F-250 with a 5.8 in it.

Cool. Is your truck stock height otherwise?

Yeti, do you think that you would have been fine with stock/35s with only a different bumper?

the only to make the tires fit was my front bumper has a 3 inch spacer, but it looks good. No lift and only airbags in the rear, but they are empty.
Here is a picture of it
