For a long time the keys-left-in-ignition warning chime would continue after the key was out. You could jiggle it and it would stop. Now it's getting hard to rotate the switch to start the van. I'm worried about getting stranded!
At first glance this looks like a PITA to change. I need to consult the CD. Is this a dealer part?
Mine was doing the same thing. It isn't the entire Ignition. It was just the Ignition lock cylinder. $20. All I had to do was insert the the key turn it to run...but not start..then insert a small rod into the hole under the steering collumn. I used a streight clothes hanger. I pushed the little button that is inside the hole then pulled the lock cylinder out. I was simple!!!
It was funny how i nver noticed that hole before. Here is the thread from when I fixed it before!
This was soooo easy thanks to all of you. In fact, after I installed the new switch to make sure it worked, I removed again to get it re-keyed to match my original one.
I ended up with a Borg-Warner brand. It cost much more than the $15 unknown brand, but it gives me better piece of mind.
