been reading up on inlines and i got a 240 in my 66. i can get a 300 block and i have heard that you can put a 240 head on a 300 block for more compression. my question is how much and would i need to run higher octane.
I have very much the same situation, being that the 71 F100 I just bought used to have a 240 in it, but upon purchase, all I got was the head. After much searching for a decent 300 to drop in, I've only found some incomplete stuff, and according to both my mechanic and my uncle (a 30+ year Ford guy) slapping the 240 head on the 300 block will reduce the torque this engine CAN produce; so long story short, no, dont do it.
