Yes, the radiator can be relocated to the bed. Some are concerned about building something other than a general purpose vehicle that could be used for hauling firewood and other normal activities. I'm in favor of relocation, but that is not everyone's opinion. It is not a decision that needs to be reached immediately.

. . .
The single point that has driven this project all along is that the truck has to be registered and licensed. In California we have to meet the smog requirements in order to licenses it.
Therefor, we either run a non-modified smog legal stock setup, or build a smog-test exempt 1975 or older truck. That is why we picked the 72 - no title transfers needed, just a matter of paying the license fee to be legal to drive it on the streets.
The 2166 should be the ticket, I've always like the Performer series of intakes, and we won't be overcammed to match.
The Edelbrock intake manifold is on it's way. That way Mike will have something to mate up to his Edelbrock 4BBL Carb. Mike should receive it sometime mid next week.

Good deal, I moved the steam cleaner in front of my shop yesterday, when the wife get's home I'm going to go get the engine and steam it off and get it prepped for tear down...PB Blaster, etc.
After the flow discussion, I realize that this won't add much. But it will look sweet!
What??? It is essential. We absolutely have to have an aftermarket manifold port matched to our heads - you are giving us an extra maybe 40 horses over the 2bbl it had!
There is a whole bunch of things that have to work well - leave any of them undone and the entire string is useless.
AND, it's sweet looking bling! A win, win proposition.
BTW, I did a little simple math and this seems equivalent to a little over two hours labor. (not the $0.30/hr rate normal for hobby mechanics). No big deal. You guys are spending a bunch more wrench time than me.

I could bling it up some as well if I can find a deal on some glass pellets for my cabinet, they make some media blasting stuff now that almost puts a shine on aluminum castings.
